When I started my coaching business, I had a semi-expensive site created to showcase my new business.
It was a nerve-wracking and intimidating process.
There were so many important decisions to be made. Creating my site was basically creating the foundation of my business plan. I had to decide what business I was in, exactly. Coaching itself is not a business plan.
Putting together my site forced me to make some deeper decisions.
I had to decide who I wanted to work with.
What I wanted to do for them.
What to call myself–did I really have to call myself a life coach?
How to represent myself.
How much to charge.
And so forth.
With that clarity came some surprising benefits. I went from a dabbling hopeful to being a real-life coach in real-life business. The website itself made my dream real and substantive.
Do you have to have a website? No. You don’t have to do anything. But it sure helps.
Here are 5 surprising benefits of having your own site
1. Let’s get the obvious out of the way: You’ll have your own website.
You’ll be official. No way to say you’re not in business yet if you have your own site that says otherwise!
2. Get the confidence to tell people what you do and what the hell that means.
Pulling your site together means you’ll get clear on what, exactly, you do. When you do that you’ll figure out the right language to explain what you do for people. This means you can speak confidently no matter who asks.
No more deer in the headlight oh-shit moments when someone says “What do you do?”
3. Face your fears about people in your life seeing what you stand for.
Every single person I have ever worked with is afraid of what at least one person would think of them. It’s often their dad. Sometimes their mom. Sometimes old friends from high school. Sometimes an old English teacher who said they couldn’t write.
When you press publish, people are gonna see. It might not be thousands of people from The Google flooding your blog immediately. But your woo-woo intuitive, creative self is going to be out there. It has to be in order to help the people you’re meant to help.
4. You can try anything!
Have a class idea? Here’s your space to advertise it. New beta offer you want to put out there? Publish it on your website easily. Having a place to share your ideas makes it 150% easier to try new things.
5. The fall is a great time to sell services.
There’s still time to get a website up, polished, ready to roll for a September launch. My sister site, Websmacked will get your site ready for you in a couple of weeks.
You can still get a complete, beautiful site up before September.
I have 3 website slots left at the current price ($799) before the price raises to $1299. Request a consultation at www.websmacked.com
Update: We can still get your site created and rolling by September, but the price has gone up to $1299.
